So I've covered the north island and after a 4 hour ferry trip playing cards, and listening to a very strange Asian lady hum/squeal somewhere over the rainbow, our bus rolled onto the South Island. The South Island had incredible scenery with incredible mountains everywhere and some snow. However this didn't deter the tripod persevering with flip flops and shorts!! ... for Delaware. We also saw Washington DC and 9 Canadian provinces. Oh Delaware....
- We experienced 3 time zones. Central, Mountain, and Pacific. We weren't in Pacific for too long. We were mostly in Mountain time.
- We drove 4,159 miles in Paul's parents' car. That does not include the 430 miles from our house to their house. So all in all, Paul and I traveled over 5,000 miles for our trip! WOW!

Then were went to New Ulm, which was settled by the Germans. It has a Glockenspiel in the centre. Then on to Sleepy Eye where we saw the house they used to live, and saw the monumemt to 'Sleepy Eye', a local chief of the Soiux tribe, whom the town is named for.
We ate dinner at the local restaurant and Grace and Carroll met several people they knew who were surprised to see them. We were introduced as their son Michael's New Zealand ...
After breakfast, (Grace and Carroll stayed at the hotel too),we had a tour of downtown St Paul - this is one side of the river, and Minneapolis is the other side, they are locally called the twin cities. Looked at the University and city buildings, then stopped at the Capitol -Where the senate, the house of representatives and supreme court are. Very ornate inside with marble columns and stair cases. There are the old flags from the local regiments ...
I officially hit the road on Tuesday, starting my new adventure as APO's field rep. My first stop was Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minnesota. This time last year, they were just barely hanging on with only three members. Now they have fifteen and, after their recruitment event this week, are looking at adding 10-20 more.
They're a good group of enthusiastic brothers, eager to expand their chapter and enhance their programming. ...
