    ... turned......within minutes the clouds were dark and the heavens opened; my anorak came into force and we ran for shelter and a Sri Lankan tea....with no sign of the rain letting up I headed off to buy Grahame an anorak but failed as his arms are unfortunately a proportional length and therefore the minuscule arm length of Sri Lankan anoraks were no good!!

    Handy stop over point on the way to Dambullah and Sigiriya for the Buddhist caves and the famous rock but apart from that, not much to recommend. I wouldn't go so far as 'avoid'. But it's not far off that and simply best used as a place of transit.
