... magnificent got a bit sun burnt infact. Great to get here and all collapsed in a heap in the beer garden with a well earned beer or 3 and couple of bottles of Australian red. Brilliant. This is the life. Feet and hips all feeling like they've had a big walk. Bed rooms and shower small but clean. Very welcome after previous nights stay. Wish I hadn't sent all my summer clothes back with David. It's stinking hot and I've only got winter clothes and my hiking ...

    Cook's Tour

From York, we took a Cook's tour (James Cook lived in Whitby and served his apprenticeship in Whitby) to Whitby. We loved Whitby so we parked the car for the day and walked to the Abbey, along the river, to the fish and chip shop (Bradley's - almost as good as Barts)and to the beach. After this we headed west and North to Newcastle. We are actually 10 ml west of Newcastle.
Our accommodation is a refurb of an 1878 built stables for a local doctor's house. Very roomy.
