... We got caught once or twice behind some snails and chased them up the hills and (probably) round the bend.....
Another excitement were the few inexplicable route notes which had random road numbers and iffy directions. For example, our notes didn't match the map: but Brit is a solid navigator and I think we make a good team.
Although I admit I was slightly alarmed when she said she couldn't tell me the answer to one of my queries, as reading whilst driving made ...

Friday 19th July 2014 To Red Bluff, Cruising Hwy 99 An early & bright start ( not so bright for some of the group) we drove to the outskirts of Yuba City to visit OMC ( Orchard Management Company) where we inspected their manufacturing plant of all things orchard harvesting. The sight of some more Big Toys and a few bottles of water brightened our blokes up no end. The OMC blokes drive these Ford 350 King utes that have a towing capacity of 8 tons and are bigger than ...

... wouldn’t let us join them. The next tour would have been at 1 or 3 and we didn’t want to wait for 2 more hours. So we just explored on our own and took lots of pictures from the top of the dam. You can walk along the top but not drive. There were lots of birds zooming around the dam, especially swallows. Around 1 we decided to go back to Redding and wash the truck. Then we went off ...
