... all day and doing some laundry we were knackered when we returned back to Kevin in the early evening. With the rain pelting down we weren't too keen to venture out so had a nice 11 hour sleep! ... long time sitting at the viewpoint admiring the mighty spectacle (as well as taking some photos of Dalai Dave and Seb's mascot, Kiwi Karl). Returning to the carpark, we said goodbye to Seb after exchanging contact details. ... cleanest but the fridge was brand new and it had a cooker and microwave. The loo was round the corner. For the price it was fine and we decided to sleep in our sleeping bags! We settled in and went for a wander round the village and estuary and beach. It was a stunning location, a perfect spot for fishing, but no fishing rod! We had returned it to Glen! Saw lots of terns and gulls picking up clams and dropping them onto a pebble bank to open them. So clever! ...

... which has the distinction of being the first town in New Zealand to have electricity back in 1888. Reefton blazed into life in 1870 after gold bearing quartz was discovered in the hills above, earning the area it's nickname "Quartzopolis"
