... We went over to the northern one first where Wat Si Chum was, it's in the lonely planet book - a huge Buddha inside a stone room with no roof, it's pretty cool when you see it! They're all pretty awesome even though they're ruins, to think how old they are and how long it must have taken to build these things! This history goes back to when this country was in it's peak, at the same time our country was going through the Black Plague. Crazy how roles reverse all the time ...

Back in Thailand, we spent a few blissful days bumming around Bangkok. We visited the fantastic Central Mall and healed up fully from our Myanmar illnesses. Then, we were off to Sukhothai! From Bangkok, we took a (fun-filled) 7 hour bus ride to this fabulous small town. The ...

We both tried Sukhothai's signature dish which is a version of kuaytiaw (noodle soup) with a sweet broth, pork, ground peanuts and thinly sliced green beans. The food at this restaurant was better then expected and conveniently close, so we ended up eating there both nights. The next morning we set out to explore the ...

... ruins which I didn't saw before. Here we saw Wat Mai, King Ramkhamhaeng monument, Wat Tra, Wat Sa Si,Wat Chana Songkhram, The city Pillar Shrine San Lak Muang, Wat Mahathat, Wat Si Sawai and Wat Tra Phang Ngoon. After this we enjoyed the festival again. There was as well a place were you could learn the ancient language. After writing a little note in english and my name in the ancient language I hung up my little note as well on one of the many green little terracotta ...

... for the next three nights and would become one of my favourite hotels in Thailand - the BanThai Guesthouse. My room was nothing special but the bed was amazing, comfortable mattress and sheets - excellent quality. After settling in it was time for dinner which considering the time decided it was best to eat at the guest houses restaurant. The selection of food wasn't great but it was tasty. After dinner I relaxed and was about to have a shower when I found a frog in my ...
