Kingman, Arizona, United States vera_und_alexIf you are reading this, and we warned you not to, here is why....

When we left the Grand Canyon we drove for a few hours that night and stayed in lovely Needles, California, right on the border of Arizona. So thats it, just where we slept for the night, before we headed up to Yosemite National Park.

We just wanted our map to be accurate, hence the reason for this post.

Till Yosemite, a real post you can read.

Nic and Jess
Needles, California, United States nicandjessica... a small town on the way and enjoyed ice cream and took photos of the strange assortment of paraphenalia that diners along the route had collected. Not exactly sure what the town was called, but I do know we were on what is now Route 40 in Arizona (yea sorry about my shifty memory - I think the tequila in Mexico has got to it).

That night in Vegas was pretty subdued. A group of us ...
Kingman, Arizona, United States julesjb... t I hear properly? When I heard Maryanna, I should have heard marry Hannah. Uh, she's Katrine's age. This goes against everything I've ever thought about when it came to beautiful young women. Not that I would have anything against that, but..... I don't know anything about her. Why would I marry someone I know nothing about. No, I do know quite a few things about her. She's young and pretty. Has the strongest faith in What? Is! of anyone I know. Is ...
Kingman, Arizona, United States cobra1899... And with all of the hikes below the rim completely off the agenda, due to ice, fog and generally miserable conditions, we finished the junior ranger program and headed off. Heading south, we had met all of the pre-arranged commitments we had until Saturday and still had not decided what to do. We did not make our final decision about what to do next until we had passed the turn off we belatedly decided to take - we decided to treat Zac to an extra day ...
Kingman, Arizona, United States cdcass... treacherous wagon trail to the present day preservation of the towns along the route. We're quite taken with their souvenir shop (for people that don't usually buy souvenirs anyway), and buy up big on the Route 66 merchandise. On the way out of town Tim spots another classic car yard. Most of the cars are rusting into oblivion and the owner of the place is a bit scary, but he has some great cars dotted around the yard.
Kingman, Arizona, United States tsargood... driver angrily honking their horn while making what appeared to be less than friendly gestures with their fingers. We naturally reciprocated, hoping they would stop so we could share a cup of tea and discuss their lineage & mental capacity. What we didn't know, was that numerous drivers failed to recognize the 60 mph speed differential between their car, or truck, and Holly's, until they were ...
Kingman, Arizona, United States kzuber... probably overpacked. We encountered other hikers who carried much less, including one German fellow with nothing more than a backpack and a camera bag. But at the time, we were still in the early morning shade, not to mention filled with adrenaline, so we compensated for our lack of experience and preparation with excitement, enthusiasm, and a little nervous energy.
Havasupai, Arizona, United States mlbalmeo... Things we'd forgotten about this part of the world - (1) Even though it's a dry heat, it's still miserably hot (my oven is a dry heat, too, but I wouldn't put my head in it when it's over 100 degrees!); (2) There is no such thing as cool water out of the tap - in the shower, you can turn the hot water completely off, and still have a VERY warm shower! (3) Wet feet coming out of a fairly cool swimming pool, can sizzle ...
Bullhead City, Arizona, United States pykesonthego... instead of elevators) because it was on the third floor. It is almost impossible to get out of a hotel in Las Vegas. You cannot see windows or get a clear sense of direction. All hotels are designed to make sure you never, ever need to leave with their shops, restaurants, massive buffets, strip clubs, nightclubs, video game arcades, IMAX theatres, and um..... oh ...
