... was like an artist's palette of red, russet, yellow and copper, punctuated by evergreens. We passed Tupper Lake, where the sun was trying to break through the clouds, and the colorful line of trees was reflected, doubling the WOW factor! Reaching higher elevations we saw quaking aspen in the their golden glory. What enchanting scenery!

... but via Route 7A still. Here we took a side trip to see Abraham Lincoln's son's, Robert Lincoln, family home - well preserved and well run, offering a viewing of his family home with its original furnishings. It had a sort of homely feel to it, not overly sophisticated.

Today's reruns of choice were episodes of NCIS, conveniently screened on the same channel as the Law & Order marathon from yesterday. Now we may have still had leftovers, and we may have still been chilling around the hotel until mid afternoon.

We did decide however, that since we had so much time to spare and had explored most of the town already (think of Rutland as like a Bunbury with mountains), that we should start packing ...

... and then after crossing to the other side of the highway, the Diamond Run Mall. It was here that we found our very first JCPenney (not as good as Ellen DeGeneres makes it out to be), and also our first Sears (this was worth the walk).
