... never getting overheated yet trusting the nice weather will stay with us. Coming from Halifax, we have never seen a 3-day forecast that predicts '0% precipitation'. It's going to be hard returning to our work lives in Canada, staying indoors most of the day and squeaking in a bit of physical activity if we are lucky. Returning to the top of the pass, we stopped at Sani Top Chalet, that proudly claims to the highest pub in Africa. From the outdoor deck of the the pub, one has a panoramic view of Sani Pass and the basalt summits that look like buttresses. A Jackal Buzzard perched on a rock by the deck and for once we could literally enjoy a birds-eye view just as a bird would.

A little after 5pm, and with the mercury now below 0, we arrived at the Sani Top Lesotho border. The Sani Top area was just a random assortment of sheds and thatch-roofed rondavels on a snow topped plain. I was due to stay the night at the Sani Top Chalet, which is perched on the very edge of the escarpment and boasts the "Highest Pub in Africa - 2,874m".
