Our last stop has been Gatlinburg, TN. We enjoyed our visit to the Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. Jim looked all over the place, high and low but never saw Dolly! We ran into the Compton's from Lexington who happened to be here too. We enjoyed having dinner together with Ben, Suzanne, Charlie and Nancy. It was nice to have friends to enjoy a meal with again.
It will be wonderful to be back in South Carolina even though there will be lots of changes from ...
... the 25th year of the German reunification (1989). They were expecting thousands of people in Frankfurt and we actually ( on Saturday night) watched the major event on the TV. Dinner was at a very small local eatery where we had pork and potatoes ( of course) and wine. We sat at long wooden table with benches..family style. A neighborhood German place full of locals and fun to experience. We returned "home" and settled down for the night.
... and things bigger than Ben Hur. And what do we notice, but there are hordes of people on the side of the road with deck chairs set up lining the streets. In parking lot after parking It are hordes upon hordes of classic cars. OK we get it, there must be a classic car show of sorts in town and given everyone is sitting in their chairs on each side of their main , there must be a parade. Nope! Today we drove through Gatlinburg and
Pigeon Forge on the way to Maryville TN. Gatlinburg was too commercial
for us plus no place to park a car let along an RV. Pigeon Forge has
Dollywood so we drove past and took photos. Then onto Maryville where
we spent time with Heather and her kids. Heather and I “met” 15
years ago on a scrapbooking forum. We were all Mums, just ...
