We stopped at the port of Corfu. The only way to really get around the island is to take an excursion. At least it was for us. We were going to see a Monastery in the village of Palaiokastritsa and to the village of Gastouri to visit the 19th century Achilleion Palace.
The places were very beautiful and again the excursions didn't disappoint ...
... I struck up a conversation with two cute girls. They were at the tail end of their own Aegean expedition. Mykonos (party island), Santorini (tourist island), and some other one I can't recall. Standard stuff, but then what do you expect from two Canadian college girls with interestingly painted toenails? My plan was to reach Athens, spend some time seeing the big stuff (Acropolis, etc) then retire to Piraeus (Athens' main port) and get a room; my ferry to Naxos was booked ...

At Agni, the next bay over, we walked along a bush track to
the Chapel of St. Arsenios. The chapel was the home of a hermit a few hundred
years ago and is built into the rocks, surrounded by the Mediterranean. It’s
postcard perfect and is popular with tourists, but the entry book hadn’t been
filled out in over a month. We took the obligatory photos and headed home,
drained by the days exertions.
