... so I sat through some varied works before the long choral piece. A woman, Frauke Aulbert singing/reciting Aperghis and Nono was outstanding! Her fabulous technique and real understanding of the styles brought the works to life. I'm pleased to have heard the choir too, but it's not really representative of the range that Astra will be performing over the next couple of weeks in Venice, Camina, and Bucharest. Dinner tonight at Art Blu, on the corner of 'our' square (San Stefano) ...

Our house guests had to return to LGW today so we had a last McDonald's lunch (Chris needs his fix – well that’s my version) and we took a drive into Milan getting used to the standard of driving and trying to remain aloof from it. Well that delay worked out quite nicely. We slept in a hotel bed that came with a hot breakfast all for free!! So much better than sleeping in a seat with no breakfast on a train. We made it to Venezia! Venice is definitely something I wasn't expecting. The streets are so narrow and there's so many people, it can get hard to navigate when you don't know where you're going ...

... sandals for me, a great present from Chris , lucky me! We also acquired a few bottles of Limoncello, made from local juicy Amalfi coast lemons. The flight from Napoli to Venizia was just over an hour and the Easyjet flight went without incident, although we were packed in like sardines. At Venizia Marco Polo airport we took a bus into Piazzale Roma and then walked across one bridge over the canal to our hotel, Hotel Papadopoli, which ...
