Destination 399

[Arrival from Ferry]

After a night with more than just a fiew hours of sleep on the ferry from Greece, I arrived early in the morning around 7:00am scared facing the heavily industrialized City of Brindisi! The first sight of Italy was not the most charming - hopefully to be changed soon. Therefore, after arrival and one of the quickest Immigragtion check (1 Minute), immediate departure on motorbike to explore more charming places.

See next entry.

Brindisi, Puglia, Italy pandajax365... regions around Milan and Turin. Here, the region is notably poorer with a large dependence on agriculture and the sea, and the level of unemployment is almost 20%, far greater than the other end of the country. The pace of life here is so much slower, and if anyone has ever been a little frustrated once in a while with shops being shut for the afternoon siesta, try southern Italy. Not only do shops ...

Brindisi, Puglia, Italy travellerbruce... for family time over a 6 course dinner that took all day to make? They drive their Fiats and mopeds like they're trying to qualify for the next Formula 1 race. There is a marked absence of big chains (ie. McDonald's, Starbucks, etc...), so obviously they must be doing something right with the quality of their food and drink. And don't mess with the mid-afternoon naptime. Very few things can ...

Brindisi, Puglia, Italy callumtToday was a site seeing day for the four of us. We hopped the train and headed to a unique little town called Alberobello. This is the only place in Italy that has the cone shaped roofed houses made out of stone. Alberobello is a UNESCO Site and is something not to be missed. Due to train schedule constraints we didn't have much opportunity to spend time there. Only a quick look around, lunch and then headed to Lecce.
