... on board. Just before docking in Mallorca, we found out that the ban on bringing alcohol applies only to spirits so we stocked up. Price difference – a bottle of Spanish red we paid $39 for last night, we bought duty free for $9 in Mallorca. This will help the budget significantly.
Dinner was smart casual – again we joined some others for dinner and after dinner we headed for the theatre where we saw ...
And at long last we are on our way ... can't quite believe we are actually starting this journey after all the work, planning, talking .... And we know we've been to San Telmo many times before but this time it is different!! And so good to have Simon's old friends Max & Linsey onboard - after all they were really the people responsible for him ending up in Port d'Andratx to begin with.
St Elm, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain sharkita... everyone who’s coming aboard. So, whoever was on duty had raised the passarelle and had now gone inside. There are other boats around so I can’t just yell out until I get someone’s attention so I was stuck. I could either find a phone and call, return to the club, or just wait. There was a bench nearby so I sat down and just waited for about 20 minutes until I heard someone. I yelled out the names of a few people that I thought may be on ...
Palma, Balearic Islands, Spain and Canary Islands mylifesjourneyWe arrived in Cala de Calobra around 5:30. We anchored in the small bay and took a tender to shore. The little village has a small pier along one side of a steep hill and the village is crowded on the hillside raising between two much larger and steeper hills. The whole thing looks like some Hollywood set because of its idyllic setting on the small bay. There are several bars and restaurants where we got drinks and ate an early dinner.
sa Calobra, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourney... away from the small coastal town of Colònia de Sant Jordi. This beach was rated the second best bare beach in the world and I can see why. Only six of us could go to the beach since the yacht would continue on towards Minorca and we would have to return on the heli. I didn’t even think we would have six people since no one had fully recovered from last night. We took a tender to shore where the crew ...
Colònia de Sant Jordi, Balearic Islands, Spain mylifesjourneyEarly morning to the airport for my trip to Mallorca, Spain, an island that is a major beach resort. Everyone is still asleep as I put the final stuff in my backpack. I have enough time so I stop by a supermarket for a liter of yogurt and a pastry store for some chocolate croissants. What do they think as I stop in with my large backpack making me 6'9" and my front backpack making me look pregnant. I can barely make it through the aisles.
The metro goes straight to the ...
... ever popular Hotel Bon Sol is a few metres away and has been popular with tourists from the UK since it opened 50 years ago and continually a top favourite with our clients. Run by the same family since opening it has always had a fine reputation for food and ...
Palma, Spain paulatluxury... an afternoon of working to catch up on lost hours, I made a supper of vegetables and potatoes. As I chopped, I gazed out the window at the forest of green plants tumbling over the fence. The flowers come in very unique shades here or deep fushias to creamy peach to electric blues. Me encanta. For dessert, we had homemade rice pudding that we had prepared earlier. It was heavenly and I learned the secret is to add a little lemon rind to the milk while cooking.
Palma de Mallorca, Spain and Canary Islands whereshegoesi visit spain so often but I had my first trip there at the tender age of about 8 months! haha!
needless to say I can't remember that particular trip but the subsequent ones really hit the spot with me!
I love Majorca because it has something for everybody. Mad nightlife, beautiful beaches and scenery, lovely people and not as "high rise" as main land Spain.
... we would pass the ever-popular and dare I say famous la Torre Restaurant, where the pigs were already slow roasting over an open fire, anticipating being on that night's menu. And that was all there would be on the menu, a loaf of bread, some salad, soup (ladled out of an enormous eartheware bowl) and pieces of pork, washed down (at least for the adults) with a couple of glasses of local table ...
