A City in the Middle of the Spanish Desert

We finally arrived in Madrid and I could not have been happier to get off that train. Bryan and I decided that we were tired of the big cities for now, and would rather spend our time in cities equipped with beaches (especially because it has been so hot). So we only spent one day and night in Madrid and for us it was just fine. When we first arrived at the train station, many hours were spend making arrangements and mandatory reservations for the trains for the next part of our journey. Afte...

Sevilla day 2 then back to Madrid

... t want just a sandwich of some weird meat and weird cheese on crusty bread. The lady gave me a huge pile of the macaroni. I also bought some haribo strawberry gummies. I ate the macaronis as quick as possible because I knew we only had 20 minutes for the entire stop. I shoveled them in, then went back to the bus. I read a little more and noticed a movie with Colin Farrell was on. I’m not sure what movie it was. I also didn’ ...

A night out

It pulled into Atocha station about two hours later and I checked back into the Mad Hostel, the entire staff seemingly having forgotten I had stayed there a few nights before. I got given one of the Hostels strange keys again, I forgot to mention those in the first section about Madrid. At the Mad Hostel they give you a small thing that looks a bit like a watch. You hold the watchface against your door and your locker and stuff and it opens them. Compared to some of ...

Last Day in Madrid

... years ago to Venezuela. We met them in a part of Madrid called La Latina, which holds a market every Sunday rain or shine. It was quite funny that Ruben informed us that in addition to stands selling clothes, etc, people even take out things from their home that most of us would throw away, and try to sell it for anything they can get! Next within the market they took us to a pickleing shop, that had tons of vegetables soaking ...

Drought, Floods and the Clinic for Muscular Pains

Sup ya´ll. So... when we got here we were told that Spain is mad dry. They said, no more 10 minute showers guys and I cringed cuz i´d been averaging about 45 ers for quite a few years now. So the first day I almost took a college shower (member adrian... the wipies). I moisented myself with the showerhead and got the feeling that when I finished, i wasn´t any cleaner and may have still had soap in my hair (it was about 3 min). I´m not down for this ...

Relaxing in Spain

... when we returned from a short walk to grab some dinner. She asked us what time we had left and what we had done all day. When we told her we had been sleeping and relaxing she furrowed her brow up and gave us a weird look. We decided if she asked again we were going to tell her we were travel writers just organising our Europe notes before heading to Rio. Thankfully she steered clear of us for the next two ...

... out for some exploring. Those crazy Germans like to see every alleyway of every street and look at everything along the way so I was sure to be walking at least 15km with them every day. It was 3 days in Seville total, and there was nothing much we didn't get to. A fair portion of my dwindling budget was spent here, as we sampled some menu del dias, and other great food. For 3 nites in a row it was meant to be my last nite with Mick and Simon before I ...

... are pretty mellow. I will start my first teaching job in about two weeks. It´s only three hours a week though so I´ll need to pick up something else as well. But not paying for rent or food has got me real relaxed on the whole employment search. Especially after Javier, the oldest son of my family, showed me how to put the language on the T.V. to English, when available. I´ve been ...

Lunch in Madrid

... an orange (very large in Spain) a packet of yogurt (Maria's favorite option) After those, you're allowed to stay at the table chatting with your companion, or reading something alone. You can stay as long as your "lunchtime" goes. I personally don't feel like walking a lot after a menu. I mean, I can't. It's so much food! And, let me remind you that, Spanish women in general are very slim.
