        ... grandparents.

Le Palue provides a life for only a few people and reminds me of nothing. Seldom a car drives by or a plane flies overhead in the distance. This place is tranquil, inviting, and completely at peace. As the sun sets behind Marmolada, queen of the Dolomites, we are left with another mark of Italy's never-ending splendor. It is very easy to understand how people can spend their lives in such a way.

... into being about the destination as we shared the road with heavy traffic for about 30km. We had a stop for lunch at one of the towns but the star of the day was Treviso. Treviso is a beautiful little, walled, old town with no tourists, lots of walkers and cyclists, and heaps of magic little alleys. There are also lots of waterways and old bridges. The owner was very friendly and wanted to help us with our trip. He couldn't believe we had come all the way from Australia. Every person who came into his little shop also wanted to chat. Seems we have been the "talk to" people in this area since the night before when not one, not two ...

Day 17 - Cortina D'Amprezzo to Pieve Di Cadore 33km Today started with assisting some American tourists get their Mercedes van out of the wet, steep car park at the hotel. It had been raining most of the night and would rain for the rest of the day so we donned our wet gear, although we were pretty much drenched within the first 5km. We rode down a beautiful valley shrouded in fog, but unfortunately ...

The train journey from Udine wasn't overly impressive, but the Alps are a hard act to follow. Arriving at Treviso greets us with a 1.5 km walk through the meandering streets. I have printed detailed directions, but the Countess is having none of it. Subsequent we get slightly lost so out comes the iPad. Yet again its hot and humid, and we a melting a little by the time we get to the 'Locando San Tomaso' B&B. Pepe the owner gives us a warm welcome and leads us to our ...
