A Sunday stroll to San Telmo; Tango Central

... continue the day strolling along Puerto Madero with the rest of Buenos Aires. We even tried to stroll as slowly as the locals...we had to conciously think about walking slowly in order to do it. Years of living in Chicago has trained us to get everywhere FAST! We encountered more tango dancing in the street on our way back to the hostel. They are so talented. It´s amazing what these women can do in 3 inch heels!
Buenos Aires

... about both the city and the country so it was well worth while. We eventually got to the embassy and got all that sorted quite quick, had some lunch and by then the rain had stopped so we could walk around and enjoy it. There was a proposed walk mentioned in our guide book which we followed, this took us around Gothic style buildings and across to the fine arts museum. In this area is the generic flower sculpture, a 20 ft high flower with petals operated by a time ...

Day 4 - Buenos Aires - First Subway Ride

... and it was fun. Late afternoon we took our first ride on the public system using the Subte (subway) to the Plaza Italia just three stops. It was a bit of a wild goose chase as I didn’t really have a plan, we ended doing up doing nothing and opted for a brisk 30 minute walk home.

At our homestay Jody and Niamh continued with some school homework and wrote in their diaries. Our host bore news of her newly arrived ...

Argentina!

... we met in Rio and got home this morning at 8am! Shocking thing though is that it was a drag show and had breakdancers too! Completely not our type of thing, or so we thought but was so much fun...the breakdancers more than the drag queens...I got freaked out a bit by some guy dressed up like Gene Simmons! Off south tomorrow for 3 long drive days and lots of camping!

Buenos Aires et Tigre avec Leila, Olivier et Aïcha

We arrived there about 2.30am and we were the first people there! Once again, night ...

Polo vs Football - which is more exciting?

... behind by anything that came to hand as a missile. The fact that they crowded the player so much that he couldn´t really take the kick effectively didn´t seem to matter. After the game, which River Plate did actually win, although I had to take the word of the locals for that, as they don´t have a score board or a clock at the stadium, we had to wait until the River fans had been escorted out of the stadium and the general area before we were allowed to leave ...

Election/El Tigre

... our necks, looking straight up, but it also put is in a great position to be photographed by press here. It also didn't hurt that my friend group on Tuesday ended up looking like a diversity-acceptance poster, with a blonde whitey (guess who that is), an African American, an Asian, an Indian, and a Jew. Not bad eh? Anyway, the election itself was pretty intense. There were enormous cheers every time CNN announced Barack had won a state. I'd ...

Day trip to Tigre

... vegetated islands separated by rivers and streams and lined by traditional houses on stilts- a very welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Bs As. Afterwards we headed to Puerto de Frutos an extensive arts and crafts market, dotted with restaurants and food stalls, where we had lunch and shopped before heading back. Got back just in time before the heavens opened.

Worst black jack players ever

... most amazing and suckiest experience of my life. Hah, holy ****, I can`t explain to you how bad I just want to scream at everyone and tell them that they are completely playing like labotomy patients and that they are all stupid ****ing morons. It`s like in the movie Beautiful Girls, where Michael Rappaport says "it`s like the retarded kid who doesn`t know that he`s retarded, so he`s perfectly content". This is the perfect quote for this most mind ...
