Spectacular scenery leaving Lake Tahoe, and for a long time after, with mountains, valleys, beautiful rivers and so forth. Left Monterey at 8:05 for San Simeon and Hearst Castle. Drove CA1 along the sea coast. Ray was the passenger and I did the driving. We stopped and took pictures of the sea coast. Saw the elephant seals. They looked like dead animals on the beach. Arrived at 11:15 had lunch at the hotel restaurant. Very good. Ray dropped me off at Hearst castle at 12:30 ...
