    Hi Folks,

Our first stop in Brazil was the touristic island of Florianopolis on the South East coast. This area is fairly well off and packed with domestic and international holiday makers. As our trip is entering the home straight and the living costs in Brazil are generally higher we were happy to relax on the beaches rather than running around booking trips and activities.

At the entrance an unbelievably confident good looking Brazilian girl approached me and demanded to know my details. After this party I decided that Brazilian women were ...

We had drinks at the hostel; then went to the lakeside with some wine for a while; then we went to a Brazilian "club". It was as far from a club as I could imagine; everyone was dancing in a couple a specific dance with certain steps, I suppose it was something like samba but I'm not sure. There was a live band playing local music and i felt very much a fish out of water. It was interesting to see ...

... We were staying in the island of Santa Marta, even though it is called Florianopolis. The hotel we booked was in a remote area on the north side of the island. The taxi would cost us $35US and the bus would cost us $6US. The two of us were tired and our bags were getting heavier by the day. Since we would not be returning to this terminal until we leave, I booked our last overnight bus to Rio de Janeiro. We caught a taxi and headed to Santinho Beach.

    The idea ...
