We headed straight for the tourist information centre as the guy at the last one so helpful we expected then to be the same here. 2 policewomen manned this desk and they spoke no English. I arrived at about 10am after a long 14 hour bus ride from Chiclayo. I had to take a bus from Cajamarca first to Chiclayo (6hrs with Linea - 20 soles), and then another bus (Movil Tours, 14hrs - 65 soles semi-cama) to Tarapoto. The water is only about 7or so feet deep, We found out the next day that it was true that a person really did jump off that little cliff, and hit his head and he eventually drowned.
