Denn ...
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia haensi... on the house (standing, not standing) and each wine farm we went to had been affected some worse than others, with one family's house at the bottom of the valley nearly destroyed. We are about to embark on a journey to some of the world's poorest countries yet here we were in Australia watching so much suffering. Although the country was in mourning our trips were booked and we looked forward to exploring more.
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia kc2009... the wind on the jetty. After photos and sitting around a while longer the afternoon was beginning to cool we drove all the way down the coast only to realise that the best camping was actually at Rye. We headed back to go to the ranger's office to ask for a spot ($20) and got ourselves set up after we had found it (no easy task). With the tent sorted we headed out for a bite to eat and got get a couple of beers to sit around the tent with. 4th Early start once again and we took the ...
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia adam_and_kim... through the CBD, stopped off at Federation Square but by now it was about 2am and think were winding up. Caught the tram, public transport is running all night and is free too, which is brilliant. Much easier to get back than it was in Sydney. Stayed on the 112 all the way to St Kilda to have a look around, went past our old apartment, had a wander up and down Fitzroy Street and then caught the 96 back. Had a VB on the balcony before we finally went to bed about 5am!
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia robnsarahoz... areas. Parts of Victoria have had their biggest November rainfall for 13 years. And while I understand that this is a positive thing in drought-stricken regions, I don't think I'll ever be able to express the Aussie delight at a downpour! Leaving the southwest we spent a couple of days crossing the Nullarbor, a partially tree-less limestone plain which could contain England, Holland, Belgium and Switzerland with 7 ...
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia fishtails04... but whatever. There was an auction, dodge'em cars, Devonshire tea (student jazz band played while people sat on lawn furniture in the gym having tea and biscuits:-), and other neat things! I tossed some waterballoons terribly at a panel and won a waterpistol!, snagged 2 grocery bags full of books for $2 at the book fair (all very random), and went to the coolest place ever! The Pirate Pancake ...
Ringwood, Australia nolthafer... Festival which was not too far from Ringwood. It was great! There were all sorts of food stalls, vendors, people to look at, music, rides! YEE HAW! Just as good as a fair! I was amused by some of the rides that I had never seen before like the giant blow up ship slide and a few others. We went on the Cyclone. Blah! It was fun until it felt like your brains were being sucked out ...
Ringwood, Australia nolthafer... me just how much I care about you all and to thank you for who you are and the importance that ya'll play in my life. (Awwww!) What would be life w/out friends and family and relationships anyways? I guess I'm more apt to think about those things being on the other side of the world and missing you all. Anywho, Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you all had good ones and here's a belated card for ya.
Ringwood, Australia nolthaferMonday: ROLLERSKATING! I went to the rink in Bayswater which is only a 7 min train ride up the line. For $6.50 I can skate for 2 hours by myself which is pretty good and I'm convinced I'm pretty FRICKEN awesome!!!! The older lady who runs the place is trying to get me in for Adult skate on Tuesday morning or inline hockey practice. Maybe I could be pretty kick ass at that as well! We'll just have to see, I am getting new wheels on my quads:-) Tuesday ...
Ringwood, Australia nolthaferOn last Fri night we went to April's friends art reception. It was good... a group of 4 photography students who put together a show on displacement. I spoke to April's friend and she said that their professor at Uni had been ******** on about they all should of had a dozen shows by this stage in their career b/c the professor had so they were tired on hearing about that and decided to do one. I like the level of commitment that they put into the show from the very ...
