... the road into Lindau, I spotted our hotel.

After checking in I waited in the Beer Garden for Les and Gilly and they eventually turned up 30 minutes later as the heavens opened up with a big down pour!

As the hotel appeared to have a nice restaurant and bar we decided to spend the evening there and we weren't disappointed with the steak that we ordered!

The rain is still torrential this morning. It is just like when we were camping in Lauterbrunen in Switzerland when the valley was swept away in the floods. Within about 5 minutes we have crossed the Rhine and now in Germany. As we start to climb out of the valley into the Black Forest the scenery becomes alpine. The houses are mostly wooden chalet type and every so often there are shops ...

    ... crystal clean, just
flowing deep from bank to bank. Awesome………..

Shopping for food is always interesting outside of your own
country. One thing is for certain, meat is a luxury here. Firstly it has no
fat, they remove it all, and secondly the prices are quoted in Swiss Francs per
100gms. Price per Kg would be just too scary. If you like cheese, this is the
place to shop. There must be a thousand different cheeses available. I LOVE
    CHEESE.

... On the way we were treated to
    cheese and wine.

On arrival we were shown up to our own private dining room
for a very fancy lunch. Corinne’s brother and his wife, Urs and Regula,
serenaded both Corinne and Grandfather, whilst other relatives recited home
written poems about the two of them. All very formal and all very in German. A
three course meal later we all said our good byes and headed on our separate
    ways.

Tunnels, more tunnels, and theatre on the lake

... reading the signs, we were very nervous!

The bike ride around lakefront was lovely. The place was buzzing on the Sunday afternoon. We found the massive outdoor theatre especially created to stage major productions over the summer. The set (dominated by three huge dragons) was in the lake itself. A little more involved than Thames Musical Theatre productions! We would have loved to stay to watch but needed to get to our next stop - Friedrichshafen, back in ...
