      I went downstairs which is when Anna arrived home. She had been at a friends house. Othmar had started to make dinner so I helped Brigitta chop up some things for it. After my help was no longer needed I sat on the couch and waited. My host family were speaking in Swiss German during dinner anyway, I didn’t understand no matter what.       ... one Brat and hot dog stand open that served the meat in pretzel buns, so of course Kevin was in heaven.

      Switzerland does not have regular coffee, so you have to get something with espresso and they don't have bagels - only croissants, which are quite delicious.

      ... anyway and enjoyed the prettiness. We saw what may have been the 'castle' which was actually a hotel but we weren't sure. After a while we got too cold and so then we headed home.

      On the way back we stopped at a servo to buy a 'vignette' which is like a road tax which you need to drive in Austria. We are heading there tomorrow and now we are all prepared. Ben also bought a beer at the servo which was huge (I think a litre), which is totally normal ...

      ... Allmendingen to begin my reality! My final adventure for the festive season was celebrating New Year at our friend Sebastian's house in Ulm, about half an hour from Allmendingen. We all enjoyed a delicious raclette which is a traditional Swiss dish where you melt cheese and roast vegetables on a grill.
