... good rate. Although we were insistent in paying for the hotel, Gernot would not accept anything.
Well I do suppose that we did give him accommodation a few times in Africa and also New Zealand when he visited there. We were very appreciative of the hospitality.

... the very friendly waiter with ordering a side of chips with our meal. Anyway once our meal arrived (14 prawns on a skewer) it was delicious. Next we catch a little boat out to the island to explore the castle. It was interesting wandering through the castle grounds and buildings. On the Sunday I moved bases: from the hotel in Bad Pyrmont, to an apartment for a full week in Quedlinburg, 2 hours drive.

On the way over I stopped in medieval hansa town Hameln for a couple of hours. The famous tale of the rat catcher comes from here, and is exploited to the full.
