... the very friendly waiter with ordering a side of chips with our meal. Anyway once our meal arrived (14 prawns on a skewer) it was delicious. Next we catch a little boat out to the island to explore the castle. It was interesting wandering through the castle grounds and buildings. So long Koblenz, we're heading north to Hamelin, which we discover is actually called Hameln, took a while to figure that out on the GPS!! On the Sunday I moved bases: from the hotel in Bad Pyrmont, to an apartment for a full week in Quedlinburg, 2 hours drive.

On the way over I stopped in medieval hansa town Hameln for a couple of hours. The famous tale of the rat catcher comes from here, and is exploited to the full.

... in the one particular terrace or cafe, not out on the grass.

The choice of saunas, pools, hot tubs and steam baths was good though, and I had a good massage.

And the views and fresh air were great. It was on a hill overlooking forests.
