Today we are docked in Breisach in the south west of Germany and the sun is shining in blue skies, hooray! But it is only 2 degrees with no wind. We are leaving at 12:15 for an excursion through the Black Forest, so no lunch. However they won't let us starve so there was breakfast available until 9:00 and then brunch available from 9:30 until 11:30. So a light breakfast before I headed out to walk around the typical German town of Breisach. The town of just over 14,000 ...

Geneva, with a population of only 190,000, is famous for the establishment of the Red Cross, the particle ...

Part of the town is called little Venice, the narrow canals run around the tall timbered buildings, on Tanners street the houses were 7 stories high with open balconies on the top floor for drying the hides. A canal runs along the front if the houses to supply water for tanning. Close by there was ornate market hall. The main canal was wider and very picturesque, you could take a half hour trip, the ...

Spending time with family in Denzlingen

We could not have had a better time for our first stop in Germany. It was wonderful spending time with my (Tasha) relatives Beate and Michael in Denzlingen just outside Freiburg. They shared the history of my family tree, showed us around, opened up their home, and were just wonderful to spend time with. Upon arrival Beate took us to a great viewpoint of all Freidburg at the top of a hill. At the start of the Black Forest this hill had a spectacular view and ...
