... the interesting parts and the stories. So it was nice to go there but not mind blowing. I think we're all a little jaded from the barrage of cultural sights we've experienced in the last week or so. Probably the best thing was hearing from Lena about day to day life on Crete. How married couples are given houses by their parents, what age they marry, pregnancy out of wedlock is a precious baby and many Cretian brides walk down the aisle in their white dress ...

This really felt like a home cooked meal as Maria cooked the food ten feet from us in her oven and brought the salad to our table with the small glasses for wine. Since I can't bring back any large items in my already-stuffed duffel bag, my only method of getting souvenirs to the States is to package them up and mail them from Naxos. For that I need the post office, and for that I need to be on Naxos on Friday (July 3). The only ferry to Naxos from Heraklion arrives at ...

... leaping about the rocky terrain.

WE stop several times on our drive, Gallatin, the Church of Archangel Michael, Kastelli, Askoi. WE make our way onto (into?) the Lassithi Plateau - the birthplace of Zeus. WE even see the cave where the birth happened. WE drive up and down the mountains all day. Making it to Mesa Potami, and a fabulous little taverna where the lady makes all the food from produce in her own backyard (thank you to Lisa and Chris ...
