... soon enough this was not enough. We were in the clouds, and it was cold! Having been at above 30°C at our lunch stop, we were now at just 15°C. This was not something we were expecting at all when we set off on our trip earlier today, so of course we were dressed for hot weather, wearing shorts and t-shirts. Hence, we kept our jackets on as we jumped off the bike at the car park, and walked along a small pathway to the highest spot in Thailand, at 2,565metres above mean ...

After the children went to bed we sat up talking until we couldn't keep our eyes open. The next day we were up with the cockerels who do not wait for dawn ...

... found somewhere better, more expensive, but totally worth it for some sleep, a shower that didnt smell like eggs, and toilet roll!!!! We spent our only full day in Pai exploring the area on scooter. We went to a canyon that had amazing views, a strawberry farm with, again, great views, and a waterfall. It was great to spend the day in the fresh air, exploring what makes Pai a great place to visit. The town has a hippie, trendy, laid back vibe. Lots of tourists but also ...

... the cave was covered everywhere in a thick layer of bat and bird poop.

The best part of this cave is the 'bird show’ at the exit every night when a half million swifts fly into the cave. I had a *************ceiving how many birds that would be and after witnessing it I still can’t.

We settled on a bench outside the cave around 5 p.m. Around 5:20 we looked up to see a number of birds ...
