Just finished my last lesson with Grade 2 this morning! Very sad - they are so sweet. I enjoy Grades 2 - 4 the most.

I decided to take a risk with the lesson - tempted to stay on safe ground with transport, but really wanted to experiment (my last chance) with a story. I did the Austrian Fairy Tale Three Billy Goats Gruff and made little puppets for the goats, the bridge and ...
Mae Hong Son, Thailand vicb76... as the project management was conducted in English, Dutch, Shan, Wa and Thai. At one stage I had to ask Stephen to be less kiwi so we could all communicate better as he said ‘well if a kid walks under that, he would get hit in the chops eh’ in a nice thick NZ accent. I almost lost my focus in fits of laughter. Stephen is doing an amazing job and will head to the Shan camp in a few days to work there. I sat late one night briefing him on the ...
Mae Hong Son, Thailand oniburger... We saw some big spiders, some tiny cave mushrooms, and some crazy cave worms, and I was just amazed at my first cave experience. The fit wasn't too tight...compared to the next cave!!! Now this has to be one of the craziest experiences of my life. Seriously. This was a cave that lead to a 30 metre waterfall, in the cave. When I saw our quiet guide Wat stretching before entering the cave, I was wondering what was ahead. We entered the cave in a small stream...and kept crawling ...

Mae Hong Son, Thailand nax... and could have made it all the way if it weren't for stopping with a confused look on my face. Sitting along the gate were 15 or so mostly female thai that just pointed to the parking lot and made some very direct and simple thai statement in unison as if they've done it many times before. I got it, park with the rest of the tourists you Farang. After some confusion and navigating the language barrier I agreed to pay for a guide with a ...
Mae Hong Son, Mae Hong Son, Thailand sonicbridges... at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep in Thailand have confirmed that an American has reached full spiritual enlightenment in just five days. The man, identified as Steve Haddad from Baltimore, Maryland, transcended into the realm of "nibbana" after less than a week into his meditation studies with the International Buddhism Center just outside of Chiang Mai. Said the Dalai Lama, who arrived this morning to witness the spectacle, "It's ...
Mae Hong Son, Thailand oriolesman... discover that I am a brilliant screenwriter and director of soft-core pornography- though I always suspected I had talent in this arena. The superior plot lines and sophisticated dialogue are far better than you'll find on late-night Cinemax. I frequently play supporting roles, and I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank several of you out there in Blogland who made spirited cameo appearances in my ambitious little films. You know who you are ...
Mae Hong Son, Thailand oriolesmanThis morning we made a trip down to the restaurant for breakfast at the hotel before our tour of Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, Doi Poi Hmong Village, and finally the Chiang Mai Zoo with our tour guide Supat. We left to begin our tour at 8:30am, heading outside of Chiang Mai and up the most winding, hilly road I've ever seen. The climb up the mountain totals about 20 kilometers due to the winding, and eventually takes us to the Doi Poi Hmong Village. The local tribes have ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand, Thailand coraciiI went this weekend to Chiang Mai, about 6 hours away to see the town, Thailand's second largest. I was exited to spend a little extra time with new friends Rivandi and Andrew, who were on their way out, to explore some of the shopping treasures that I'd heard about, and to meet Patrick, a mutual friend of some of my college friends who has been working in Thailand for years running a Burmese human rights organization. The ...
Chiang Mai, Thailand cfgarberFeb 13- I boarded a Sawngtaew at 7am for the 4 hour trip deeper into the mountains towards the Burma border. I stopped at a nice little town called Mae Hong Son. The town has a few nice parks and a hill top temple with a nice view of the city. Woman from sorrounding hill tribes sell their woven textiles in the local market. They all wear colorful clothes and ...
