    ... third of the way to go for the Star Ferry when we saw a Junk that was offering rides. Since we wanted to do that any way, we went ahead and boarded. We were hoping to see a community of junks but were VERY disappointed. The junk was well appointed with lounge chairs and pillows but the afternoon was so hot that we were nodding off. There was no narration, and most of the people on board were Chinese so we would not have understood it anyway. ...

    ... of town - can't afford luxury here! - and booking into 2 rooms on 14th floor, not much bigger than a sleeper cubicle in a train - we headed down to McDonald's about 11:00 pm. for something to eat - not having had anything to eat since breakfast that morning. I hope I am not getting hooked on McDonald's food......it tasted real good!

They were just setting up for the famous Temple night market just a street away, but the only people on that street besides those setting up were what appeared to be more than 20 prosititutes spaced out over a 2 block area. I continued on to the train station to return to the airport, but stopped to by a souviner magnet and walk around a mall first.

    ... hotel whilst we watched the city lights come to life. At 8pm we joined the throngs on the walkway outside and once again watched the Symphony of Lights show across the harbour. Plenty of photos later and we were off to dinner. As luck would have it we were passing a bar and Hugh noticed the Hawks and Magpies game was on. The journey was uneventful and we arrived in the town of Cao Lai before taking a minivan over an hour away up the mountain road to Sapa.
