... we had bought at the airport. Then we taught English out of our hotel room just like we did in Brasilia. We started at 3:00PM after getting students (the friendly locals we played games with at the airport). We had a session that lasted 5 hours teaching 3 students each (6 altogether) at a cost of 65R per hour. Altogether we achieved 1950R. The session ended at 8:00PM. At 8:00 PM we ate out last pizza. It was 9:00PM and we decided to go to ...

We arrived back into Sao Paulo close to midnight after catching a bus from Angra dos Reis in the early afternoon. The bus trip took about seven hours, with two stops of about twenty minutes each at petrol stations where you could buy some ´delicious´ salgados (dry breaded dough filled with either cheese or cheesy mince) or a lanchonete (a huge sandwich filled with, again cheese, cheesy chicken or cheesy meat). Brazilians love their cheese and its literally in everything - ...

Then we trudged back through the rain to our hostel to resume out wait. When we were finally let intro our rooms we decided to try and make the most of the situation by asking the hostel staff what we can do in ...

... the serving is when you get coffee. In the hotel it was easy to just get 2 or 3 servings into a large cup but if ordered, the coffee cup was nothing more than shot glass. If in fact the coffee was Espresso, it was very different from here.. I found it to be very good, not overpowering or bitter like I find Espresso at home. And when you go to a restauraunt, you need to remember the "con leite" part or you were getting black and generally, there was ...

Brazilian Hospitality in São Paulo

A travel blog entry by kirsty.md on Feb 02, 2013

We left Florianopolis late on Wednesday night in a group of 3 other people to catch the bus to São Paulo. We had been invited to stay at a Brazilian guy's house that we had met at the hostel Megan was staying at. We were all very excited about staying with a local. The bus took 10 hours overnight and we arrived in São Paulo at 8.30am. Eduardo, our host was not arriving in São Paulo until the afternoon so we had time to kill. At first we sat in the ...
