... were getting up close and personal with each other. It was pretty much a gay bar and the three of us mugs just sat there like complete tools. Don't get me wrong I'm all for equality and back the yes campaign but this was not what we signed up for. Gringo Tuesday was advertised as having a plethora of birds but the week we happened to go it was the complete opposite. It couldn't have tanked any more if it tried. We left cursing Richard and the **** 'Gringo Tuesday'. Went straight to bed.

The bus journey was an uneventful 6 hours though I was surprised at how small the roads were. We went through plenty of small towns and their speed bumps and didn't seem to get onto anything that resembled a motorway. I spent my time either reading or listening to music and deciding if I should try and get some sleep. I also set about learning numbers in Spanish and have got up to 13. ...

Air France was surprisingly good. The food was great, the on-board entrainment was decent, & the crew were in party mood. I don't tend to drink alcohol on flights as it dehydrates me, & I tend to stick to the juice & water combo which works, however the crew member suggested champers as we were going to BRASIL. How could I say Nada to that.

... team scored was really emotional. Going to a soccer match in Brazil must be such a unique experience. So even though there are doubts about the success of the FIFA next year, the actual passion for the game will certainly be a story of success.

After the museum, our driver took us to downtown São Paulo. The closer we came to the old town, the sketchier it became. I am still shocked by the many homeless people. I think, I have never seen that many before. ...
