... by Oscar Niemeyer. We took the metro to Paraiso (Paradise!) and then walked to the park. Breakfast had been disappointing, due to getting up late and a failure by the hotel to replenish supplies, so we stopped for a coffee and cheese bread on the way. A couple of old Brazilian men on the next table asked where we were from and then told us a joke about going into a bar in New York and ordering a beer and being served a bear.

Home at last

... in Brazilian pizza. And how good was that- the pizza's perfectly woodfired and with a crust that was puffed and yet not thick. There was also a hot and cold buffet which had many tempting local specialities to try.

We head back to K&F's very comfortable apartment which is to be our base while we are in Sao Paulo- or should I say when we get back to Sao Paulo as by tomorrow night we will be in Brasilia on yet another led of this exciting adventure.

Not being a huge tennis fan, I certainly got a better appreciation for the game seeing it in the flesh, particularly the speed of the serves and the spin the players put on the ball. It's a much better sport live than on TV. For the record, Nadal and David Nalbandian both won their quarter finals. Nadal had had a few scares during his tie with the match going to 3 sets. We found out that weekend that Nadal went on to win the tournament. ...
