Here we are in Nippon and our trip is off to a great start. The plane ride was a long one (14 hrs Toronto-Tokyo) and our total travel time, home to hostel in Sapporo, was about 23 hours.

After we ate, we took the subway North to the Sapporo Beer Museum. It was cool to see a visual history of the beer, but the museum offered no English descriptions. ... at the supermarket we went to. I picked up what I think is octopus jerky and this weird apple/jelly chunk yogourt drink. Also, you can get this 20% water/vodka type drink for dirt cheap here. To Sapporo on Peach Airlines
... Perhaps Otaru would have better weather. Best Western was really convenient i.e 5 minutes walk right across the station and though it was too early to get our rooms , we check in our luggage and we were off to Otaru. But decided to check out the trains to Furano for the next morning.
