Vancouver stopover

30th May 2008 The plane to Sydney didn't leave until just before midnight so we had a bit of time to kill. We organised a late checkout from the motel, but that still got us to the airport at around 1:30pm. We checked our bags which were perfectly on weight, so that was good, didn't have to repack bags on the airport floor. Then we just found some seats as far out of the way as possible, but it was still pretty uncomfortable and noisy. We were there for a couple of hours before our Air Canada...

At the West Coast Trail (WCT) visitor centre, we paid the $120 fee required for the four of us to be shuttled by ferry across two rivers along the trail. The ferry's are informal affairs operated by two of the local First Nations (the Ditidaht at Nitinat Narrows, and the Huu-ay-aht at Gordon ...

It was as dull as expected, and I clock watched the whole week, but at least I got paid. I also got accused of being an immigrant by my boss (English wasnt her first language and she got confused when I said I was from England, but not London!), which was nice. Sadly the fun ended Friday as my ...

... and I was let loose on the city. As per my usual routine I decided to walk around the city rather than take public transport or a tour bus. I ended up in a park near the lake (where a fair was taking place, raising money for MS suffers) and I continued to walk past the sport stadiums and into the centre of town. I feel sorry for the architects of this city - the surrounding landscape is so amazing and breath taking that no man made structure could really compete. I ...

Cruising!

9:30am: Got things ready for departure and went to the Princess representatives at our hotel to be told to come back at 11:30 because the ship was delayed coming into port due to stormy weather out of San Francisco. She said our ship would still be leaving on time but we wouldn't be transferred to it until about 1pm. So we used the internet and had a $6 bagel in the hotel restaurant. 11:30am: We were able to get our Princess cruise card and check in for embarkation at ...

We decided that we were going to hang out in the tub with our swimsuits on and enjoy some bubbly and jets to relax later for Chewy's birthday. J.J. left us with his cell, just like Silvia had, and told us to call him if we needed any more champagne. We all kicked back on the King size bed and listened to Chewy's ...
