As we arrived at Trondheim rail station, we realised that we had not writen down where we were staying whilst here! We lugged our backage around the city seeking out the Information Center in hope of a computer. We were directed to the local Libary which held free computers to use. After a short panic of not being able to find ...
Trondheim, Trondelag, Norway ktandash... the Norwegians like to construct all over the country. In short, if bridges will not do the job, build tunnels under the sea or fjords. These are really quite elaborate architectural constructs and must cost a fortune. Good to see the North Sea oil being put to fine use. Around Alesund there are several of these tunnels varying in length up to 2000 metres or more. Alesund also is known for its furniture production. If the prices in the Art Nouveau shops ...
Trondheim, Trondelag, Norway ehjelterOur first stop this day was Trondheim, Norway's first capital city and a trading post for thousands of years. Apparently the first ever export of American goods to Europe took place here around 1000 AD. After the capital moved to Bergen (1217), Trondheim became Norway's religious center (actually, pilgrims started coming to the shrine of St. Olav 200 ...
Trondheim, Trondelag, Norway chronometers... heat and replenished ourselves with lunch at the Swedish fast food chain Max on the side of the town's central square. Following lunch we had 2 hours before the train back to Trondheim (there's only 2 a day) was due to depart so it was difficult to find activities suitable for this time frame. We loitered in the relatively large station complex/shopping centre enjoying the warmth before deciding to try the ice karting on Lake Åre. Ice karting is offered in 7 minute blocks and ...
Trondheim, Trondelag, Norway v1213... verloren.
Jeg hadde tross alt all verdens tid.
Salat). Dann mit dem Bus zur ...
Trondheim, Norway anne-i-norge... municipality visit we headed to the library, where I quickly checked my e-mail and wrote my previous blog. The library was very nice. It was cool because it was built on top of the ruins from St.Olavs church. They had the original stones and even skeletons that were found. We quickly grabbed lunch on our way to the Nidaros Cathedral. Once there, we were given a tour of the inside of the church (sadly, we couldn't take pictures) but it was beautiful! Learning about how ...
Trondheim, Norway jess06Marilyn's Father emigrated from Trondheim in the 1930s. We were met by her cousin Elsa and her husband Ivar. Then then took us on a tour of Trondheim. We drove through the city seeing the major local attractions. We visited Nidaros Domkirke and gardens. They pointed out the Royal Residence where the royal family stays when visiting Trondheim ...
