Slept very soundly in warm room and up early to pack and ready for last tour.
Hearty breakfast at the restaurant followed by gearing up for dog-sled tour. Four to a sled, we are soon been whisked across the frozen river to the forests. Not withstanding the odd dog-****, this is a pleasnt and peaceful way to get around.

The cruise through the archipelago is awe inspiring and what I presume the Queen Charlotte Sounds in NZ would have looked similar to had it not been so foggy! All the summer cottages look like heavenly retreats from the city to come and the unparalleled privacy of the hundreds of tiny islands provide the perfect setting for an escape from reality. …
... Nobel Prize is awarded. We saw the reception area, the dining area & all areas for the Nobel Prize. It is an absolutely gorgeous building & fun to imagine all the pomp & ceremony. One interesting feat is that 300 guests are all served dinner within 3 minutes! I have never been to any banquet that is half as efficient. The city council chambers were ...
... also studied the local map to find the tourist information centre so they could pick up their Stockholm cards to enable us to visit some tourist attractions while we are here.
Nan and Aunt Sal returned from the Information Centre with their cards and also directions to our hotel. The tourist information man had told them there was no need to catch the T-bana (train) as it would only take 5 or 10 minutes to walk to the hotel. So, Nan, Pop and Aunt ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Rica Hotel Stockholm
Great hotel, central location, nice staff
Stayed in the Rica City Hotel for 2 nights. Got a good deal by booking on Expedia. Hotel was 10 minute walk from the bus/train central station. Central location for sightseeing. Also close to a few good restaurants and small bars. Hotel is very clean and rooms were in excellent condition. Rooms and bathroom are small but it wasn't a problem. Nice strong and hot shower. No iron in room but there's an ironing room on 7th floor. Computer in lobby with a free internet connection also. Safe in room. Staff was very friendly and helpful finding places to eat etc. Breakfast buffet was good - large selection of different foods. I would highly recommend!
Booked this over the internet at destination-stockholm for a one night stopover. I wanted something central and resonably priced. The deal included a Stockholm card too.
Wasn't sure about this hotel when we booked over the internet. But on arrival it was in an old building, on entry to our room we were surprised how nice it was. It was very clean had nice complementary products in the bathroom, comfortable beds.
Note: The buffet was very nice at breakfast (just watch out there is horse meat [not salami]).
Would stay there again.
Central ,friendly and very clean
We were with my wife first time in Stockholm and found this very centrally located hotel the ideal place for sightseeing and shopping within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful, though almost every day there was some meeting or conference. The whole hotel was very clean. The only disadvantage are the small rooms,so the minisafe in our room was located in a dimmly lit wardrobe making easy to fail the proper digits.Surely we would stay there again.
An OK hotel
Have stayed there twice, it is fine, clean and precise without fuss. The rooms are small but ok. It has wireless internet at a price 140Skr per night in some rooms and broadband in other rooms for slightly less. One could sit and work quite happily with a laptop. No nonslip flooring in hte bath/shower which might be an issue if you are infirm.
Breakfast is fine but on Saturday there were no tables left and I had to stand for eight or so minutes before one was free.
Conference rates are lower than quoted in your reviews. 485 Skr single
I have just returned from Sweden and a 4 night stay at the Rica City Hotel Stockholm. The trip was planned very last minute and I spent a lot of time trying to find a decent hotel at a reasonable rate. This hotel was not my first choice, but when I discovered that there were few choices available, I booked it based on other reviews here. I was not disappointed and would recommend this hotel to others traveling to Stockholm.
Very well located hotel, good breakfast and rooms, with air conditioned.
Very good value for money. Hard to get better in Stockholm, except luxury.
Stayed there just a few days ago.
Stayed at the Rica City from 24/12/03 - 27/12/03. The location was great for getting out & exploring Stockholm. The hotel was clean & comfortable & we were able to book exclusive use of the sauna which was a nice touch. The room was small & basic but fine for a sightseeing base to go back to & crash out. It was quite pricey at over £100 a night but given that it was xmas it is only to be expected. The breakfast was a bit dissapointing & the bar & restaurant were closed while we were there but its just a couple of minutes away from the main streets of Stockholm so you dont have to go too far for anything.
Stockholm a la carte
Using stockholm a la carte, we received very good rates to stay here.
It is central, right in the middle of the shopping district, cinemas and a short walk to the old town. Breakfast was good, rooms are a bit small but very well equipped and quiet, if you request a room on the inner courtyard side.
I stayed at the Rica City Hotel for six days in May 2002. It is extremely convenient--just a few steps from Hotorget and within two blocks of major department stores, right in the middle of the central business district. I originally asked for an inside room because I wanted quiet, and was told that the only available room facing the atrium was very hot. I decided to try it, and immediately decided they were right. They immediately offered another room, putting me in an upper floor room facing the (dead-end) street. I found that it was plenty quiet, even for a light sleeper like myself. The breakfast served in the atrium restaurant was temendous--my only problem was exercising restraint from gorging myself. The rooms were small by American standards and not particularly charming but perfectly adequate, clean, modern etc. I was able to set up my laptop and work there in perfect comfort, didn't worry about security etc. I would definitely be happy to stay there again, but would suggest trying the other Rica hotel around the corner--built in a converted 19th century department store-- first. It looks a lot more charming, but was fully booked when I was there.
