... trees and pretty flowers. We stayed on the bus till we got to the Kontiki and Viking ship museums.

First of all we explored the Kontiki with it’s models of both Kontiki and Ra rafts which Thor Heyerdahl crossed the Pacific in. Fascinating stuff and he was an amazing pioneer with obviously a real quest for knowledge. Next stop was the Viking ship museum but a coffee first on the way in. ... last half of the trip was going to be rainy. My heart sunk. I knew we couldn’t afford tickets up north. Ohh but I wanted to go.



We walked up to the bed and breakfast that we were going to be staying and it didn’t get better. The place stunk! Literally it smelled terrible.

... was uneventful but the ticket structure on the Swedish train was horrible. We didn't have a reservation but the conductor doesn't know which seats were not reserved, so every time the train stops someone gets on that has a reservation for the seat I was sitting in. Very uncoordinated. The train ride itself was nice, with rolling green hills and trees everywhere. Once again east bound and down. ...

I wondered why the area looked like it had been razed and that's why - new buildings are being put up everywhere but for now it's a huge big building site before you get to the Opera House. I managed to squeeze in a guided tour as well and it was worth it. Easy access too with a ramp for those of us less able to walk on a slope to get up and down.
