... centre with centres of higher education and the site of northern Norway's defense HQ. It is a pretty place and quite modern. This is not by design but thanks to the German Luftwaffe which destroyed 70 percent of the buildings in 1940.

Det Nasjonale Flymuseum (The Norwegian Avaition Museum) is a must visit if you are an aircraft buff. The museum is quite new and has quite an extensive collection of aircraft including a ...
Bodø, North Norway, Norway sinilintu... at the information/tours area to pick up a myriad of brochures, maps and guide books to keep informed with what was planned for each day, what to look out for, learn about the boats, the art on them, the food that would be served etc. Shortly after departure it was time for lunch so I coaxed Steve out of the cabin and we headed up to deck 5. We managed to snag ourselves a table, which we guarded well, in the full restaurant and began to load up plates. We were joined by an older ...
Bodø, North Norway, Norway v1213... found in most gas stations here, much better than the questionable hot dogs and old donuts at home. There is also a bakery chain that has two locations here, one within walking distance and one in the main shopping center in the city, and their pastries are absolutely delicious. There are, sadly, no Starbucks in Norway, but I can buy lattes and mochas at school for about $4. We went to a Norwegian's party the first weekend we were here and met a lot of very friendly ...
Leider ...
Bodø, Norway sanny... was very nice. I think the best part was when Inger bought us some shrimp right off the boat that had been caught that morning. It was by far the best shimp I've ever had. Probably the freshest too. After a long exciting trip up North, I think I can speak for the whole group that we were happy to be home in lovely Hamar. It was a trip I won't ever forget and I think it brought the group just a little bit closer in some ways.
Bodø, Norway tinga... we were there was going to be nothing, no electricty, no water, no nothing... but it was really nice. The rest of the night we chilled and slept early. Thursday we slept in finally and went to a nearby town with a lighthouse... i guess it wasnt really a town even it was just nearby, Tranoy. Everywhere we went there was beautiful and alot of fun. We did a lot of climbing of rocks and going through various fields. When we got home that ...
Bodø, Norway julieflickner3... looked like a painting. We got some very pretty pictures. Unfortunately we couldn't stay long because our bus driver had some place to be so we only had a few minutes at our location before being rushed off to the next thing. We then went to an outdoor art exhibit where you could walk along these rocks which in some ways reminded me of Peggy's cove or something, and see little statues and such. I must say the statues weren't much ...
Bodø, Norway korvette923... lot. We then spent some time with coffee and Norwegian pastries in the visitors center, a very robust stone building, before braving the cliff to the north. About 100 yards to the north of the building is the actual point of the cape. The entire top of the cape is surrounded by a chain-link fence, designed to catch anyone blown away by the wind. A solid steel fence surrounds a depression in the middle of the cape and extends ...
Nordkapp, Norway oneyearaway... to fall to the Nazis and the air force fought back from here for a time, hence the museum's location so far from Oslo. We'd come to visit CK at this time because it was his birthday and therefore an excuse for an epic drinking session. In Norway the drinks cost so much that when they get drunk they do it properly. The night started with a 'vorspiel' or 'before party' which involved us drinking vodka and playing some cards at CK's place. Then ...
