... on the agenda. Start planning!" Winter of 2012 was already earmarked for a month in Colombia, so Morocco got booked into our plans for May of 2013. Men tracht und Gott lacht. January of 2012 did find us in Colombia. But July of 2012 found us in chemo. And August found us in conversations about a future we both knew only one of us would see. She urged me to live fully, and perhaps with a special person if I were lucky enough to find one. ...

By lunch we have arrived in Marrakech. Sophie and Courtney are yet to discover the sites so we head back to the main square for another round. This time we head into a spice store and are shown many different spices and perfumes and made a delicious tea. We all walk away with a few things and I am happy to grab some saffron to take home. How Do They Find These Places

After two nights in Zagora, we started our way back northwest and ended up again in the seeming middle of nowhere. Our accomodations, the Kasbah Air Ben Damietta, was a wonderful place, run by a French woman; so the cuisine de haute was French - steak!

We also stopped at the Atlas Movie Studio outside of, here comes that name again, Ouarzazate. Lawrence of Arabia, Cleopatra, and Patton, among other, were filmed, at least in part, here.

The house is a short distance from downtown Marrakech and this is fine by me as it's been great to just chill out and be away from it all in lovely surroundings. Now that you know what it's like where I'm living I'll give you the run down on what my days look like. I have the kids for 4 - 5 hours every morning from about 9 or so making sure they have their breakfast, teeth cleaned etc before we start the summer ...

... Who knows? It was way too much food but it was great!

I was grateful we had a little walk to the Marrakesh Museum after such a big lunch. The museum is located in the carefully restored Dar Menebhi Palace. The house itself is classic Andalusian architecture with an open courtyard in the center. The courtyard is now covered by a frosted glass roof which gives the illusion of being open. Original mosaics and the floor-set basins in ...
