... that we needed to eat and rest so we walked up to the same cafe again and had a wonderful lunch - shared a salad and the same seafood pasta that Mike had last night, then a fruit salad and crème caramel for dessert, all for the ridiculously cheap price of 84dhs. We sat there for about 1.5-2 hours, then walked back and used the Internet, before heading over to the markets to buy the teapot and a mirror. We picked up our luggage from the ...
Casablanca, Morocco leone_and_mike... sunny day. And I guess the first time when I neither didn`t have to go on a tour with the guests, or slept in the cabin during my time off. Instead, I went with my Filippino mafia :o) for a little wander around the town. I wasn`t amazed by it, but we had a good time. From the whole day the best was the ice cream we had hehe. I can recommend it to eveyone!<br>
Casablanca, Morocco bognaWe toured the Hassan II mosque, the 2nd largest mosque in the world. It holds 25,000 worshipers inside and 80,000 in its courtyard. Afterwards, we walked through the oldest part of the medina (walled city) and absorbed the sights, sounds, and smells. Finally, we went to the city market and saw produce stands, basketweavers, and ceramic shops.
Casablanca, Morocco ambough... sweet mint tea and eating crepe au miel (crepes with honey) at a pavement cafe, watching the locals go about their business. Casablanca may be the main financial hub of the country, but the locals are very friendly, and there is still a feel of long ago. We dined at a local restaurant as a group and ate marinated olives in oil and chilli, a delicious fresh Moroccan salad and the most divine vegetable tagine and chicken, lemon and olive tagine, followed by a huge ...
Casablanca, Morocco raniroo... into us later on and asked if i liked bread (yes); do i want to eat bread (no); do i want a coffee (no); and do i want to see nymphora (whatever that is). We are now hiding in an internet cafe; badly typing on a moroccan/french keyboard and failing. If anyone can tell us how to get an "at" symbol; that would be really helpful :)
Casablanca, Morocco irenen42... the stalls, bought a few postcards and were ready to depart (which we did soon thereafter). The bus ride home was just as long and broken up by one rest stop. However, the driver took a different approach to the city of Casablance and so we saw more parts of the city. I should mention at this point that almost every adult woman we had seen that was not a tourist was completely covered in traditional garb and a few we saw even had the face veil. The men ...

Casablanca, Morocco wendy_wanders... trailer i'd need for him. Luckily our journey continued onto Fez that afternoon so i could mull it all over. That evening we had another lavish 5 course meal, but a show aswell.. belly dancers, magicians (tigga tigga tigga!), drumplayers and dudes that played shearing scissors, a dude that breakdanced with a mint tea glass on his hand, and then Rachel and I were dressed up as 'wifes' of some other audience member, and spun in a circle in the air on a table thing ...
Casablanca, Morocco helenmillaSo this trip I intend to go to places I didn't hit last time, and since I have limited time, I decide to go to Casablanca first. It’s a big city with plenty of professionals, which should obviate the need for DIY tour guides. So next morning I find a bus to Rabat, Morocco’s capital, if not its largest city. Soon we’re in rural Morocco, which IS the real Morocco IMHO. Some ...
