Fez, Fès-Boulemane, Morocco cariverga... nut spread, it was very nice but not nice enough for me to buy any. Ahmed's commission from the perfume shop, nothing.

For lunch Ahmed took us to a local restaurant to try all the local meals. For $5 we could get a local Lamb or Chicken Tajine with couscous. Most of the group are on a very tight budget and didn't want to spend that much. A lunch in Morocco bought at the markets costs between 10c and $1. It would appear that we are a cheap group of people ...
Fes, Morocco bradmccartney... Lisbon when he was talking about an earthquake that had happened in 17?? (This gave us the giggles for the rest of the trip - poor Mike was mortified). We also got to see a block of stone with a penis on it, apparently these were place along some of the streets of the ancient city pointing out the way to the brothel. It was interesting to see the layout of some of the buildings in the city, and some of the ideas that they used still around today as well (roller doors on the shop ...
Fes, Morocco leone_and_mike... night, but in a double room on a lower floor, for 120 dirhams (even though I was using it all by myself), right next door the night guard's room, who spend the night talking loudly with his friend. The following day my friend Aziz took me to a nearby brand-new hotel just outside the medina walls. For only 180 dirhams a night I got a beautiful room ...
Fes, Morocco yorron... lined with comfortable and colourful Moroccan cushions. The man was dressed in a flowing blue robe that was embroidered with gold thread around the neck. A Berber outfit. The man introduced himself to us as Rasta-Berber and invited us in. Rasta-Berber is the owner of a tiny Amsterdam style cafe where the motto is Get High Before You Die hippy rugs cover the walls and Bob Marley DVDS are on replay all night. We shared some way too sweet mint tea with him and he had lots ...
Fes, Morocco inoursuitcase... non-muslims can't enter so you just have to take a peek from the outside. We stopped at the carpet stop and thank god were out of there within about 10 mins as all of us had experienced the dreading carpet sale..! Last stop was the herb man - we got to smell some herbs and perfumes - found out what herb could help what ailment etc etc -- I ended up buying a pure essence of vanilla one. That was the end of our tour ...
Fes, Morocco mig.qwerty... to the Berber carpet house we were able to once again have the pleasure of partaking in the mint tea experience. We saw hundreds of carpets and had a quick demonstration of how they are woven. Then five out of six of us purchased carpets (blankets) after much debating and haggling with the owners. All in all it was a great day. Our next day was spent wandering the marketplace and further developing our haggling skills.
