Behind the reservoir was the Heri es-Souani or granaries that were built by Sultan Moulay Ismail. The granaries are in the process of being restored, but at one time were able to house grain and hay to feed the 12,000 royal
horses.
The granaries have massive walls and tiny windows, effectively creating
cool storage conditions.

After some advice from some other travelers I met, I decided to head to Meknes instead of Fez. Meknes and Fez are only an hour apart and all the tourists stay in Fez and do day trips to Meknes, so I decided to do the opposite. Ever almost been in a bus crash because of a donkey? I have now. The bus driver slammed the breaks and swerved, almost running us off the rode because a donkey walked into the road ...

... problem we had was we bought so much we really had to get creative when packing. Looking back, this was the problem with packing so light, I wish we had bought more. Tonight’s dinner was at Le Palais de Fes which is supposed to have a wonderful roof top view of the city but the lift was broken so there was no way I was climbing 4-5 flights of stairs only to come back down them. ...
