... dingy and brought it back. Following a change of clothes, we hooked the dinghy up to the main halyard this time and cursed as we had to maneuvre it around the stays to get it ahead of the mast. We finally got it tied up too. We will rig something new using a pulley where the baby stay used to be and hope that is an easier solution for the future. We might have plenty of time in the next few days to fix this up. There is no weather window to get ...

... drove by the lovely Catskill park, walked in the little town of Hudson where we ate a hamburger in a very American style diner, aluminium counter and little stools.

He took me to the Olana state historic site, the house and estate of a famous landscape painter, Frederick Church, I downloaded one picture (of course not allowed to take pictures), and I accompanied him to an auction, I love to see the auctioneer going fast and hitting the hammer!

... an arts competition and it's really cute. If you turn on Bridge street and go up the hill about 20 more minutes on foot you have Home Depot, Walmart and many stores like that which you usually have to get to by car. We made good use of our stay here fro stocking up a bit. We also had wonderful "pinwheels" at Miguelo's Cafe in town.. .great food! ... here and I would definitely recommend this place. With no appointment ( granted the busiest part of this season is not on them yet, but still!) they started with us right after 1 pm and we were back in a slip before 3pm even with a few waits in between. And back in the slip before the crazy rain! Just before leaving Mechanicville we got an email from Lock One Marina that they had still not received our filters.... at least we now knew we would be at our anchorage at a good hour! We left just after 8 am to tackle the last two locks in the Champlain Canal and the Federal Lock at Troy. We did still stop at Lock One Marina for diesel, and he filled us up so quickly we were even still able to make it through Lock 1 with the other sailboat Callipyge we had been traveling ...
