Days 8-10: Olsztyn
Stop number three was Olsztyn. We had picked this city as it is right in the "Thousand Lakes Area" of North Eastern Poland with the hope of doing some kayaking/canoeing & jumped on the train there from the coastal city of Gdansk. Whilst there we were lucky enough to have a couple of local guides to show us around this somewhat sleepy place.

... kuhu sind lausa oodati. Suured parklad, kus on piisavalt ruumi. Eraldi ülisuur ja praktiliselt tühi parkla matkaautodele ja karavanidele. Pilet küll 25 zlotti, aga selle eest oli ruumi küllaga ja valvega parkla. Esmajärjekorras tegime ühes murjamite restoranis kebabid ja supid. Õlut seal usulistel põhjustel ei müüdud, aga seda lubati üle tee olevast letist tuua.

E.D.: : über Gdansk/Danzig nach Olsztyn/Allenstein
Das war ein spannender Tag: zunächst fanden wir kein Frühstück (in dem Hotelchen letzte Nacht gab es keins,aber wir fanden auch kein Restaurant), und fuhren sozusagen 'darbend' los, und es wird langsam ganz schön kalt (zeitweise nur noch 5 Grad, aber wir sind ja gut gerüstet.

The BIG Day
... the day which is great for shopping and eating. For the culture lovers there are many churches to visit including St Mary's the oldest brick church. We also visit Tchec where Myk's Grandfather comes from and see the graves of his great grandparents. Happily, a note left on the grave means the English Derengowski's get back in touch with the Polish Derengowski's.

Good Bye to Poland
... time in Poland, very rewarding experience in renovating the appartment from nothing to something that was ready to be lived in, and now we were saying good bye, probably for quite a while. We will miss family, and chilling watching polish soap operas, both intentional on TV, and some not so intentional in the world of politics. Do widzenia Ojczyzno. ...
