... Māra explained some more ayurvedic teachings - how everything in the world can be described in terms of pita, kava and wata. A 'warm' person needs more 'cool' herbs, for instance, and different people respond differently to different herbs. Which would make it impossible to ever safely serve the same tea to a group of people, I would think! But fear not! The human body knows what it needs, which is why Latvians always serve herbal mixtures instead of ...

... ties that held the fence in place, to give us easier access to the loos. I was half way through this task when the young harbourmaster appeared, flourishing a key! He had no idea who had locked the gates but assured us that they would now stay unlocked, so problem solved.

We are loving it here in Latvia - though every country we go to we find reasons for staying on longer or coming back again one day...

The base here, with its heavily iron-saturated water, steep, dodgy stairs and much need for love and repair, is used over the year as a training center for DTS (Discipleship Training Schools), Counseling Schools and training in Biblical Studies - as well as having many team-building groups and camps through during the Summer months.

And to think we couldn't have even told you where exactly on a map the place was a year ago.
This country is about a 1/4 the size of our own Aotearoa, with approximately 2.3 million for population (around 56% of them being Latvian and 32% Russian) - sparse indeed compared to the average country in Europe.
We find ourselves presently settled at the YWAM base in very rural Valdemarpils (it's okay, I'm fine...I'm far...) being about 2 hours ...
