Yesterday, after the long, but inspiring day at the March, we hopped on our buses at about 6pm for the 5 hour ride to Lodz. In the morning, we heard from our historians about the Jews of Lodz, their ghetto life and how the Jews of Lodz were all eventually loaded onto railcars at the radegas (train depot) and shipped in cattle cars to Chelmno. ... lookout point over the Pilica in the forest, quite spectacular, then more cycling on good gravel road through very tall pine forest. We cycled through Majkowice where there are the ruins of a 16th century castle complete with storks on top. More pine forest then farmland with a sandy detour through a farmers field, hope Maciej got permission for this off-road excursion!
