... except to Bronte, who just wanted to be picked up (by anyone) to give the brutes a pat on the nose. After a while, we were invited out to the marquee for high tea! Man, it could not have been more english! “I say, old chap, could you pass the scones, please?” “Will you be mother, or shall I?” Its weird how strongly expat groups bring out nationalistic traits that aren't usually expressed that way at home. ... town is built on an island in the river formed by a cutoff meander bend. Flow in the cutoff and the natural channel is regulated by a series of weirs to form a moat around the entire town. I haven't read any of the history of the place yet, but presumably the moat was some kind of town defence back in its day. Ironically the media area was cordoned off by high fences and security ...

... and enjoying the last of this delightful town. Back at our apartment, Jane had started packing her case so it was time for Brad to do so too. The washing from last night was not quite dry so it will be left until later, or the morning if needed. It was also time to start this Blog.

We had an 8pm booking for dinner at L'Epicurien in the old town. It had great reviews on TA and was just a short walk away. When we arrived there was one ...

... remind each other about staying to the right and looking out for others. Only once, yesterday, while travelling on a small deserted road, did Brad suddenly realise that he was on the left side of the road.

It was a sleep in morning for Brad. Jane was up early and used the time for a quiet, relaxing read. After breakfast we started a self guided walk through the old town of Perigueux, but we didn't get to complete it as ...
