Restwell Hotel Moncton

... ein, welches uns einen tollen Ausblick auf die Bay of Fundy gewährte.<br><br>Unser Ziel heute waren die Hopewell Rocks. Es handelt sich hierbei um Gesteinsformationen, welche durch die gezeitenbedingte Erosion entstanden sind. Bei Ebbe kann man um die Formationen herumlaufen. Wegen des Tidenhubs von durchschnittlich 12 Metern stehen die Felsformationen zweimal täglich unter Wasser. Nachdem wir heute das Ganze bei Ebbe angeschaut haben, gehen wir morgen nochmals bei Flut vorbei.

... at dusk and greatly enjoyed the rural (if somewhat run down) countryside. <br><br>We shared the B&amp;B with a couple from Ontario - had flown to Moncton NB and were returning home via train the next day from Moncton. Big fans of train travel, they have made many trips by rail across this country over the years.<br><br>Following our walk, we spent a quiet evening reading in our musty, crooked little B&amp;B and despite a few misgivings, are happy to report it was ghost-free!<br><br>&#12288;

You are stuck on their little Main St. and nowhere to go but wait in line until you can get across the bridge and right into the customs office. The locals have a fit because all of us tourists block the streets but you have nowhere to go !! The customs men were very nice but took our fruit again ...

Moncton - Magnetic Hill - Magic Mountain I am really proud of myself to just allow the kids to spend the day doing exactly what they wanted to do even though it wasn't on my List of Things to See and Do. We went to the magnetic Hill theme park and specifically Magic Mountain, the highest waterpark in Canada with a slide called the Kamikaze which has a 50 ft drop that is nearly a free fall. Spent the morning doing the tourist thing - went to an Acadian museum, visitors' centre, etc. The most eventful part of today was a short afternoon drive from Moncton to Hopewell Rocks, which is in (on? near?) the Bay of Fundy, the site of the highest tides in the world. It was actually quite a hike to get from the visitors' centre to the flowerpot rock formations, but definitely worth it to see ...

... and picked up the rental car without a problem. <br><br>We found out just a few days before going to Moncton that there was an annual seafood festival going on at the time of our visit - quelle bonne surprise! Spent most of the day shopping and walking around downtown Moncton (which is not very big). The 'festival' mostly consisted of cooking demonstrations/tastings at various points around the city, as well as ...

... mentioned a new B&B that would be opening in a few days. We arrived at her house, and even though she was not 100% ready for us, she took us in and gave us a fantastic deal, I have a room to myself and then promptly left us and went out for the night! Very trusting. We headed out for a cheap steak dinner and then to a bar selling jugs of cheap beer. Hey, it was uni night, so we made the most of it.

... original permanent settlement in Newfoundland, was located. Thursday, was 14 hours of staving off boredom on the ferry. Today I spent the morning doing a quick tour of Cape Breton Highlands National Park and racing around the Cabot Trail before heading homeward. I still have a couple more hours of driving ahead of me tonight but I look forward to getting home at a reasonable time on Sunday.
