Medford, Oregon, United States pamericas... Views from the top floor were incredible. Next stop was a visit to the University of Washington. Situated on the water, it was an impressive campus.
We then took off for Pike Place Market. This was a huge open air market....fish, flowers, fruits, vegetables....you name it. The market itself was blocks long ...
Viel Spass.

Then we got a bunch of chairs and sat back, drinking wine or beer, and watched 13 year old Madi put on a show as she rode around the arena on 'Raker".

Madi 'shows' at various horse shows and while we were there, we went down to one at Yreka, CA for a weekend. Probably not the smartest move - were quite stressed we would be empty in the middle of nowhere...but we found another one in the nick of time just outside of Forks. Forks was so small and full of Twilight signs and adverts - quite funny really. So from there it took us another 2hrs to get out of the park and then we pushed on through to ...

Ashland, Oregon, United States baphometdemon... make sure the placard says "Placencia" (this would be the Ritchie bus) The other buses take you to Independence where you'll have to take the Hokey Pokey water taxi that only runs until 5:30 pm and adds to the overall cost of getting to Placencia and isn't any faster or better of a route. The owner of the Ritchie bus is a very nice and straight up guy. This also was the nicest bus we rode on in all of Belize (it had AC) and cost the same as the cheapest buses ...
Rogue River, Oregon, United States themeierls... he will have scouted out some stuff we ought to check out. We fly out of Belize on March 4th to Denver, spend another night with our girls then fly to Sacramento on the 5th. I have never kept a journal of any kind before so we will see how I do..... Now that our itinerary is laid out I can say that it is cold here at home with ice on the car window each morning. However, the days have been sunny and nice. But not so nice we won't be lovin' Belize in a couple weeks!
Rogue River, Oregon, United States themeierls... way to Phoenix, OR. As a matter of fact, it is still raining. We are happy to be back because of the drive we take to end our vacation, but our heart and mind is still in Arizona. Come on June 30th!!!! Dale's retirement day. Thank you all for following our 5 weeks of travels. We had the most wonderful vacation and can't wait for our "eternal" vacation! There is something to say about getting this old!
Medford, Oregon, United States dusterbin... normal grind of academia. You can use a sabbatical to write books or research articles, to overhaul curriculum, to get practical experience in the field you're preparing your students to enter, and to maintain currency in your discipline. But the university will also admit to the second motive for granting sabbaticals: to offer rest, respite, and renewal to a professor. They're hoping that you'll return from sabbatical ...
