So today is a lazy day after our adventures yesterday. Breakfast was yummy - the usual bread, ham cheese fruit yoghurt etc but plenty of it. Then we went to have a look around gavle town. Interestingly north sweden first town with some interesting architecture dating back to 1600s. The church was particularly ornate. Still boiling hot around 28 degrees so still roasting while riding around. Forgot to mention everyone in gavle seems to love American muscle cars ...

Today was always going to be a long one with about 300 miles and a 3 and a half hour ferry crossing so we rose early 5 am actually and were ready to leave for 6 ish to head over to fredrickhavn to catch the ferry to Gutenberg (pronounced gothenberg) in sweden. At 6am in Denmark today it was 17 degrees and we were in full bike gear - it was going to be a hot day. We arrived just in time to get on the ferry with ...

Not sure where we are heading today except towards Umea and we will try to find a nicer overnight stop when we are too tired to continue. Well, 1700 hours local time and we are in a ...

... I DIDN'T KNOW SWEDEN HAD AN ARCHIPELAGO (for you dingbats: An archipelago (i/ɑrkɨˈpɛlə&# 609;oʊ/ ark-i-pel-ə-goh), sometimes called an island group, is a chain or cluster of islands.) ! In fact I feel so stupid for not knowing this as this is a big part of Sweden. Everyone who's anyone and anyone who's everyone, uses these as a summer escape (dating right back to the 1800s) some have summer houses, tents and some ...

    Last night aboard Juno

Another lazy day of cruising the canals and lakes in Sweden. I hadn't been for a run for a few days and was feeling a little fat(ter). We had an oppurtunity to get off Juno and watch it descend another staircase at Hajstorp O. Most people got off to stretch their legs, I felt like going a liitle further. I asked our tour guide Ingemar, where the next lock ws so I could rejoin the boat. We looked at the map and saw 1 at 5 kilometres ...
