Home - sweet Home!

... the ruins at Delphi - for a sense of the sheer reach of human history; the museum at Athens, with the see-through floor revealing something of those times.
Lows: all of Albania really - the sheer poverty of our near-neighbours. And, not to be too trivial, but the weather in Greece: hard to take the grey skies... especially when so sunny in UK! Having had it as a target since way back, it did tarnish the dream somewhat!!
And so life goes....on.

Ahhhh!!!

So, nearly ready for the off! Thankfully, false alarm about arrival of guests to take over house in absence means we have one more day in which to prepare... much needed!
We will just about get there - I think.
Round about now it occurs to us we really ought to have assembled scooter on trailer and gone for little spin to test strapping arrangement, etc... just to make sure it all holds up. Oh well, the road will be a good test of all that... I guess.

St Mont - what? where? who?

... was especially nice because we were a short distance away from the wine regions of Madiran, St Mont and Pacherenc du vic Bihl. Three particularly good wineries were Château St Go, Monastère de Saint Mont, also there's a cooperative making some stylish wine called Plaimont (www.plaimont.com). Plaimont is also the easiest place to taste wine as it’s normally open.

You must also check out this small medieval town called Loupiac which is the ...

Hammer House of Horrors!

... I was unable to find my accommodation for the night. I asked local people but they did not recognise the adress and nor did my GPS software. I telephoned but could get no answer and after 45 minutes searching was seriously considering finding an alternative when I noticed a missed call. Three phone calls later and I finally got my host to agree to come and find me and lead me to his house. I was unwittingly sitting at the entrance: the name, L'Orée des ...

Spa therapy takes on new meaning

I need to reflect on my experiences in Biscarrosse and the quick but meaningful journey down the coast... not now.... So i got out of the little, pardon my french, shitsville of Biscarrosse, as fast as i could. Was it the rain? Was it the small town fever of being stuck and craving something with a major train station at hand? Or, maybe it was the fact i hadnt showered in three days, i was going to the local cyber cafe to do all my ...

Hangin with the host family...

... bordered by fields and vineyards. During my free time I have spent a lot of time reading. I was even honored enough to read a book written by the girls and one written by Frauke. Frauke's parents are very spiritual and have given me some interesting books to read. I have had some very pleasant and enlightening conversations with them. They even drew up my birth chart (horoscope) and went over it with me. Some very interesting ...

Bordeaux, France

We arrived in Bordeaux looking forward to a room to ourselves because we booked with a hotel rather than a hostel. It was just as cheap so I guess we should have expected what we got. We had our own room with a bathroom and shower and a t.v. (like we care, we don´t watch t.v.) The room would have been okay had we had a window. It was about 27 degrees out ...

Bordeaux

... has really just been another relatively relaxing day. Our goals were just to walk around as much of the city center as we could and just take in the sights. I really like days like today where we don't go to the tourist information office because we know that this city doesn't really have many major attractions and we just walk around, get somewhat lost and just see what we see. Today was also a really cheap day because on our way out ...
