Quebec Cuisine, the delicious and the disgusting

A travel blog entry by mattieandsusie

Quebec, like Montreal is well known for it's cuisine and didn’t disappoint us. Not only were we able to eat well here we managed to eat relatively cheaply.

Our first day took us to the market where portions of salad and fries weren’t the cheapest but huge, fresh and came with a port view.

Day two we were forced to shelter from the snow and found Les Anciennes Cannadiens suitably accommodating. This is a restaurant where it would be quite possible to spend ...

Quebec City, Québec - Day 21-23

... we could get the limo tour. After lunch we had hours to kill and I am so glad we aren't sitting on a park bench because it is getting a bit chilly out. Our train leaves at 10:10 pm tonight and we are picked up at 8:30 pm from the hotel. We have to go to Charney (sp?) since the train will be too long to turn around in Québec. We are so not looking forward to sleeping on the train in the teeny-tiny stateroom... Then we will arrive in Halifax after 5 pm ...

Tubing at Jacque-Cartier National Parc

A travel blog entry by abe_feuerstein

We did notice that the temperatures were quite a bit cooler than earlier in the week; the projected high for Quebec City for Monday was only 73, which made Abe and I a little dubious of whether the tubing would be torture or fun. It turned out to be great. We got to the park around 11:15 and had a quick bite and then a short hike on L'Apercu, a very pretty hike in the forest with lots of inclines and declines. That ...

Day 3/ Plains of Abraham

A travel blog entry by abe_feuerstein

... one we visited had a great iPad based tour that the kids really enjoyed and explained every stone and plank used in the place. Of note, the Plains of Abraham as a modern park was designed by Frederick Todd, the student of Olmstead (designer of Central Park, Yale, etc.). It is a beautiful park and I'm looking forward to exploring it further. We had some delicious Lebanese food after the tours and rested until 5pm or so. In the evening we headed out ...

Where Am I?

... French-French so I could actually understand the accent...hooray! I also got talking to a German girl, Kristina, on the walk, she's on a working visa and just starting travel proper after 4 months working in Moncton. She was travelling on her own too and as such keen to make friends. She invited me out to dinner with her and a Brazilian girl she had also met on the tour. We went to a place called Le Hobbit - a very strabge name considering there was nothing Tolkein-esque or Lord ...
